The first article from my postdoctoral training is officially out @CommsBio We examined cell-type-specific vulnerability and excitation/inhibition imbalance in Alzheimer's disease. Check and nature.com/articles/s4200… to learn more @kastanenka @_BrightFocus
How does Alzheimer's disease amyloid pathology affect different neuronal cell types? Is there a particular subset that is more vulnerable? Check out our most recent pre-print to find out! biorxiv.org/content/10.110… @MGHNeurology @MGHNeuroSci @_BrightFocus @kastanenka @harvardmed
Online now on biorxiv: our new voltage indicator engineered for red 2P optical recordings, 2Photron. Only possible thanks to great collaborators @ERSchreiter,@DieudonneLab,@PodgorskiLab, and others! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

#SfN We are recruiting multiple postdoc positions in each of our 3 key areas of interest. 👇 Please DM- happy to chat in person @SfNtweets rowlab.org for more information
Very happy to share our paper describing the selective degradation of aggregated tau protein via clustering activated RING-Nanobody (R-Nb) constructs. Intracellular R-Nb expression prevented tau aggregation and rapidly removed preformed aggregates. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
While to us basic scientists, this article may seem rote, I am tweeting it out (with comments) for the benefit of the clinicians/industry folks/etc who may follow this account (1/6) Point of View: Applied research won’t flourish without basic science doi.org/10.7554/eLife.…
Check out this new paper by @AMGoettem from the lab of @MJMRowan and collaborators from @rangarajulab ! Yet another result of a long standing, excitable and productive collaboration….with lots more to come! Congrats to all involved ! nature.com/articles/s4146…

Congrats to my friend and colleague Guosong Hong for his stunning and original discovery, published today in Science, on clearing tissues *in living animals* with a common food dye! The dye is tartrazine, used in Doritos! science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
Just received the amazing news of being awarded the K99 from @NIHAging! This wouldn't have been possible without the guidance of my incredible mentors, both past and present. A huge thank you to @_BrightFocus @alzassociation @MGHNeurology @harvardmed for their unwavering support!

Alternate working title: 2P or not 2P? That is the question.
Just published: Optical constraints on two-photon voltage imaging. tl;dr: it's really hard to get enough photons via 2P excitation to overcome shot noise, while keeping below thermal and photochemical damage limits. spiedigitallibrary.org/journals/neuro…
In Alzheimer's the presence of neurons with tau tangles is a close correlate for neuron loss BUT in new 2P longitudinal imaging work from the lab we show that neurons with tangles live while neurons without tangles die. I'm surprised, are you? @MGH_RI : cell.com/cell-reports/f…
Regarding our interneuron enhancer paper!! biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Breaking News!!! Addgene has just released them: addgene.org/browse/article…
Wonderful. Soon we will not need cre animal models
Excited to publish a broad set of enhancers to target interneuron types in the brain, along with a broad set of collaborators. This is part of the BI armamentarium, which together will help revolutionize the targeting and understanding of brain circuits. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
