The Miege girls have won five of the past six 4A girls' basketball championships. The Aquinas girls have won six titles in a row in 5A. The rich get richer with no end in sight.
And yes, this is my annual state basketball tournament rant. It falls on deaf ears, for the most part. I do think a lot of people agree that private schools, in many cases, have an unfair advantage, but nobody wants to really rock that boat.
Yesterday, some Kansas legislators packaged SPED funding with the worst breed of a voucher bill. The cruelty of marrying funding for the very students who won’t be served by the schools who will benefit from the vouchers is not lost on us.
Speaking of basketball, the lack of high school coverage in this basketball state is maddening. I’m a broken record on that one, too.

How sad that HS baseball games are being canceled this weekend due to an umpire shortage. Parents, this is your fault. You assault them and follow them to their cars because they made a bad call on your precious child and wonder why there are none available? This is what you get
Good to see the Bishop Miege fans come out tonight. To the left is the Stags student section and the Crusaders student section is further down the court. The Wellington band and cheerleaders are also here.
My last thought on this, and thanks for your indulgence. I'm not sure where all of the girls on the Miege basketball team live. I'm guessing all across the KC metro area. The Wellington girls live in Wellington, population 7,425, and inside the school district.
