This is an incredible quote, but what I was more shocked by was learning that it would only cost $24 billion to be prepared for ANY VIRAL PANDEMIC. For a few pennies to the federal government, the U.S. could simply crush any new viral pandemic before it gets serious.

Thanks for the nice words but I have to say, bruh, external changes straight up solve the internal problem. We wouldn't do the external changes if they didn't help solve the internal problem

I looked at the rate of gunshot wounds to the head before and after buying a house. The fraction of people who bought a house after getting shot in the head was 0%, but the fraction who did so before was higher. I conclude that buying a house increases your risk of getting shot.

at a certain point, i feel like if you go to the oracle of delphi and don't question the tortured phasing, that's on you "if you go to war, a great empire will be destroyed." like, okk, if you're deploying passive voice like that im going to assume im the great empire. idiot.

Land grant universities are up there with the National Parks, Southern folk music (and its derivatives), and baseball as the best things about America.

So, yeah, uh this section is supposed to take 345 years, but one of our community members figured out if you cram yourself into this corner over here and crouch-jump you just… *glitch teleport through wall out of bounds*

This is such an obvious and great product in retrospect – outlets limit you to ~1.5 kW, and gas stoves are typically just a few kW of useful work. Why not store up energy when you're not cooking, and dump it all into your pasta water instantly? Wish I had come up with this idea!

Back in the lab after #CES2024 … preview of what peak performance (10kW) looks like vs. a gas stove (2.1-2.2ish kW equivalent) @ImpulseLabs_ Note the water is already hot (at 10kW it goes from faucet temperature to boiling in <40 seconds)
