Happy Friday everyone! Heading to the island this weekend with your bike? Take the 900 bus from Bridgeport to be able to bring your bike on board, all the way to Tsawwassen! Everything is looking good out there right now. ^MR

On our wonder walk we talked about pulleys and where we see them in our world. After we created our own to transport snacks to a squirrel!

Exploring wheels and axles! We challenged them to create a car that can move without being touched. We also measured the distance of how far it can go. There was only a limited amount of supplies they could use as well! Aka no tape, glue or adhesive. #forceandmotion #inquiry

A fun-filled day going to @scienceworldca I highly recommend everyone to use @Translink for all future field trips. They communicated with other attendants to ensure all students arrived/exited the train before closing the doors. Thank you 🙏🏻

#marineanimalinquiry Today we researched which animals are predators and did an unplugged coding activity. SS needed to code their way to avoid predators or obstacles to find food to survive! We checked for any “bugs” or malfunctions as the SS wrote the path “go up 5, turn…”

Div 15 explored Height today using non-standard units. Ms. G our ST set up a scavenger hunt where they measured different animals around the room for them to measure. We compared our measurements&they were all different! Our solution is to all use the same item to measure.

Yesterday Ms. G our ST started Measurement in Div 15 set up measurement exploration stations and let SS explore freely. All the ss were super excited and measuring in different ways from height, length, weight, capacity, circumference. I love seeing ss play and learn 😉

Today on our #wonderwalk we challenged our students to create a shelter to protect us from precipitation. It had to fit all their members in the group and withstand any weather conditions.

We wondered how water gets to our homes! We learned the main source of water is from ground & fresh water from the mountains. Then it goes through a rigorous filtration process, travels through the pipes and then comes to our faucets. We represented our learning telling stories.

Today we celebrated Lunar New Year in Div 14&15. We made long life noodles, a directed drawing of the year of the rabbit, played hungry hungry chopsticks, practiced some Chinese characters, read books and watched videos!

Truth & Reconciliation Day is all about learning history of Indigenous People’s past in residential schools. Today we read Shin-chi’s Canoe and discussed the difference between our school and residential school. The main takeaway is that it’s a choice to come to school.

This summer session we transformed the classroom into an atelier (art studio) and was inspired by Ann Pelo’s “The Language of Art Inquiry.” Students explored and experimented with oil pastels! They used blending, layering, scratching, colour mixing and more!

Happy to live in a city where bike lanes are accessible. As our population grows, we need to continue to find alternatives to get to places. Bike to school week @burnabyschools is a great explorative measure held by bikehub to ✨maybe✨ consider choosing your bike more often!

western cultures believe we must be alive for a purpose. to work, to make money. some indigenous cultures believe we're alive just as nature is alive: to be here, to be beautiful & strange. we don't need to achieve anything to be valid in our humanness.

if everyone drops one thing they learned in therapy we can all gain insight from this thread
