Solo tour, Palm Desert, CA - the Palm Springs vacation of shows: breezy, relaxed and a ton of fun, including a special appearance by my dear friend Greg Phillinganes for a duet on ‘Gravity’ to close out the evening.
Solo tour, Phoenix, AZ - a sign request medley, deep cuts, big singalongs and overall, a show that floated by in what felt like 🫰🏼that.
Solo tour, St. Paul, MN - I’m struck by how different each of these shows are. They’re not recitals - they’re reflections of what’s in my head on any given night, and how the audience receives it and directs the flow.
I stayed up last night and reworked some chords (and yes I got the lyrics straight) and can’t wait to play it again tomorrow night in Denver. I’ve never been this exposed before, and the beauty FAR outweighs the discomfort.
These shows are building the bridge to my next album, and keeping me true to myself in the process. What an experience this has become. Thank you for being there.
Making the setlist: Imagining the show from the quiet of the dressing room & then playing it out on stage is one of the most fun aspects of this tour. It's like building the boat I'll be setting sail on for two hours, I want it to tick all the boxes for everyone, myself included.
