dark academia is also about how the author rarely gets paid from that, the institution does 💀

A lot of autists don’t ask for things they want because we’ve been conditioned to believe that what we want is irrelevant or too much, and we feel any requests must be logistically sound. But, what we want matters and we don’t need to have the logistics figured out before we ask.

This world is designed for people who carefully get away with breaking rules. It is absolutely not designed for people who go to great lengths to adhere to the rules but also complain vocally about how little sense they make.

This right here. Scattering trainees hurts the stability of health systems. Prevents deep local connections. Prevents people from organizing better systems of care

I need to follow it more. It can take months to yank a task out of "order" and put it somewhere reasonable because I incidentally started it at a time that makes no sense and it got stuck there.

- Keep an eye out for unoccupied rooms/hallways in your workplace where you can stim in peace - Carry a bottle of water at all times - When adding a new task to your routine, create a designated trial period in which you place it at various points/times so you don't get trapped

Start with the easiest thing. Can't start that? Make it smaller. I'm not going to start cleaning the kitchen, but I can put this one plate in the dishwasher. I'm not going to read a chapter of the book but I will log in to the university site. Build momentum instead of roadblocks

Met so many people recently who like me, are being diagnosed ADHD as adults. If it's the way you've always felt it can be difficult to identify the need for assessment. But diagnosis can lead to a better understanding of yourself & access to appropriate supports. #info #ADHD

But the cats love it, i can’t possibly offend my masters 🤓

I don’t know what autistic needs to hear this but throw away the cardboard box. You don’t need it, you will never use it.

9. ABA is a really important therapy for children with autism. ABA is harmful to so many autistic people. It might appear to show ‘good’ results but it causes autistic children to mask, ignore their needs, and force themselves to act neurotypical when they are not.
