I'm grateful Apple isn't the kind of place that burns bridges because the version of me they have now I believe is lot better than the one who'd have stayed the whole time. [3/3]

Following my blog post the other day I put together a simple little UserDefaults replacement that addresses my issues! It's called TinyStorage and has some nice little touches if I do say so myself 💾 christianselig.com/2024/10/introd…

This SwiftUI tutorial from Apple is quite insane lol. It exposes a custom Camera class, which exposes an AsyncStream of the camera frames you can use to display the feed directly in a #SwiftUI view. This is quite beautiful. I'm trying it right now. developer.apple.com/tutorials/samp…

For previews you can create a MockedHTTPClient, which loads the data from a local JSON file instead of making a call to the server. This makes your previews faster.

Today we’re announcing a new set of tutorials for students taking their first steps into coding with Swift and SwiftUI! You don’t need prior coding experience to use these tutorials, so they’re a great foundational step: developer.apple.com/tutorials/deve… #Swift #LearnToCode

You might find this interesting

If I was redoing my current codebase, no view model, init env with the services and datasource that you need. And everything else is just pure views (minimal views). That's how Apple envisions SwiftUI and how to work with the vanilla bricks.

I've refactored the component responsible for loading the next page in Ice Cubes. It's now a standalone #SwiftUI component I can reuse anywhere. Just pass a throwable async function, and it'll even handle the retry state internally.

So - Codable. It's been around for years now - but by design, decoding models from API calls can fail when you may not expect it too. This post is over why that happens, and some useful debugging tips to pinpoint issues: buff.ly/3QlZAor

I once heard that AirBnB spends roughly $100m a year on their design. And it seems like it's well worth it. Here are a few principles you can steal from them 👇
