So proud to be the author of the migration chapter in this brilliant book by @RoyEntSoc ! Especially proud to detail how the flies are the most remarkable migrants of all. They number up to 90% of all migrants in some studies: royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/full/10.10… nsojournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.111…

🚨New Insect migration paper🦋 Stefanescu, @CrinanJarrett et al. found that migratory painted lady butterflies are more likely to be attacked by predators closer to the equator A reason for their northward migration could be to escape being lunch! I feel many colleagues truly don't begin to imagine the privilege that is to have rights to carefree travel around the world by virtue of being born in the right coordinates or to the right parents with the right nationality.

Unable to be part of the Undergraduate Diversity program at Evolution meeting 2024 due to Visa problems. The price of being Peruvian. #Evol2024

We've just published the first genome assembly of a self-compatible heterostylous primrose! 🌸 What does the S-locus look like in this species? 👀

Out in MER! @jackpotente et al. describe a #genome assembly for 𝑃𝑟𝑖𝑚𝑢𝑙𝑎 𝑒𝑑𝑒𝑙𝑏𝑒𝑟𝑔𝑖𝑖, characterizing the S-locus #supergene controlling heterostyly in this #primrose species. @YousefiNarcis @emilianomc @peter_szovenyi @WileyEcolEvol buff.ly/3RYN6TQ

Some colleagues and friends will not attend #Evolution2024 in Montreal and have had to cancel everything (hotels, registration, etc.) because they haven't gotten their Canadian visas. Many have applied since Jan/Feb, and until now, there has been no answer. This is so frustrating
