Chromebooks might seem great for schools—cheap, easy to manage—but they’re ruining tech literacy. Kids aren’t learning how tech works; they’re learning how to live inside Google’s bubble. No file systems, no coding, no troubleshooting—just click and consume. It’s like teaching…

The kids don’t know there’s life outside the browser when it comes to computers!

Don't even get me started on Chromebooks and how they destroyed technology literacy.

Jackie Ormes (1911–1985) was the first African American woman cartoonist to be published in a newspaper. She pioneered the expression of Afrofuturism by writing & illustrating comic strips that created idealized worlds for Black characters, especially Black women. #NMAAHCFutures

I'm a 4th gen doctor. This meant I went to good schools, socialised with other doctor's kids- many of whom also wanted to become doctors and shared tips and resources about medical school entry- and already knew many lecturers when I got in. It's *not* a level playing field. 1/2

You’re 24x more likely to become a doctor if your parents were doctors, compared to those whose parents did any other type of work. Similarly, you’re 17x more likely to become a lawyer if your parents are lawyers. Here’s how it varies among the elite professions.

I teach in a new media studies university program and it's real. Young people have primarily used phones and apps, and new operating systems really try to prevent you from accessing the system's file structure (which is why I hate them)

Is this really happening? This seems totally unbelievable

Nothing has radically shifted my teaching like reading for 12 -15 minutes at the top of every class. I have: ◦time to get grading done ◦chances to check in with students ◦opportunities to evaluate who struggles or shows apprehension toward reading 1/x

Okay, #DollarWrestleverse, this is a super fun job👇🏿 processing metadata, assigning meta data descriptions and adding structure to metadata? Few companies are so advanced as to recognise this as a job, and clump it all under vague media categories...

WWE is looking for it's next Content Publishing Specialist champion! You will process & assign descriptive & structural metadata to WWE video content. If you are looking for your next role in a hybrid working environment, apply today: bit.ly/3gJWk79 #WhereChampionsWork

Weekend mornings = pancakes. Why not try Rosa Parks' recipe? 🥞 When the Library receives the papers of important people, bits of ephemera are often included along with more "official" items. This recipe, jotted down on an envelope, is just one example. go.loc.gov/4YzN50KYK2v
