We are grateful for the Ford Government's steps today to support aspiring family doctors in Ontario. We are proud that 55% of our MD students choose family medicine on average and 400,000 people in the North have had care from a #NOSMUniversity graduate.

The Ontario government is breaking down barriers for Ontario students to become family doctors by expanding the Learn and Stay grant to include family medicine, and is also requiring medical schools to prioritize seats for Ontario residents. Learn more: news.ontario.ca/en/release/100….

Fireflies there, dragon flies and butterflies here. I remember them being everywhere as a kid in the 80s and 90s, and I miss them. I wish my son could experience the wild world like I once did. #climateactionnow #climategrief apnews.com/article/firefl…

Sept. 30, 2024, is a day for deep reflection. We are called to ask ourselves, "What is an apology without change?" The truth, as painful & shameful as it can feel, must guide our actions. Join us Monday, 1 pm - 3 pm, at youtube.com/@NOSMtv & support the Truth Award @thenosm

People at @thenosm are full of heart and integrity. This photo, by Jenny Lamothe for @sudburydotcom, is "Team NOSM." These first-year MD students ran this weekend in #Sudbury for @TerryFoxCanada, and they chose to carry our name while doing so. That means an awful lot. Thank you.

Lessons from the DNC: 1. Work hard and with joy. 2. Look out for your neighbours. 3. Never let the perfect be the enemy of the good. 4. Mind your own damned business. 5. When people show you who they are, believe them. 6. Don’t boo—vote. 7. Do something.

Imagine a centralized, coordinated approach revolution in how primary care is delivered, w accessibility, efficiency, and high-quality care for all residents. IMAGINE PCO sites regionally based in a publicly funded system of interprofessional teams. This is achievable. I BELIEVE.

Imagine a future of family medicine in Ontario structured similarly to Cancer Care Ontario (CCO) where every person is immediately enrolled in a FHT as there is an FHT for every postal code in the province. When you relocate you are automatically assigned by PCO.

Looking for an answer to our primary care problem? @fordnation @SylviaJonesMPP ? Three credible FM voices: We have the answer: @ddsv3 @janephilpott @docdanielle in the @OttawaCitizen

We need a very big investment💰 if we’re going to attach every person to a primary care team. But in the end, it will cost less than what we’re doing now (delaying care) & all ppl will have health care! Here’s how I described it with @docdanielle & @ddsv3: ottawacitizen.com/opinion/martin…

There is no way to quantify what @ddsv3 means to @thenosm or #NorthernOntario. All I can say is that once in a while, we are gifted with someone truly extraordinary. I’m so glad she’s been in our corner. Happy retirement, Sarita!
