Historians/Black Studies Scholars - I'm working up a course on the history of Black Women's activism in the US. What should we read? Please retweet widely.

at best welcoming COVID endemicity is a neoliberal apology for the failure of most gov's ability to properly handle COVID-19 for the past two years. At its worst this view is a neodarwinian fatalism. We need to stand against both. This history matters.

Educators: do better. I'm tired of watching disabled students wither under discriminatory policies and procedures. Just because something is the norm doesn't mean it's good or useful or deserves a place in our unis. 17/17 #DisabilityTwitter #AcademicTwitter #AcademicChatter

Important reminders for the start of the semester! We must do better to make courses accessible, especially for disabled students, and especially during a global pandemic.

This thread is for educators bc I am worried by how my students talk about their accommodations. Many are apologetic, many feel the need to convince me that they CAN do well and that they ARE smart. And all I can think is: what the fuck did you do to make them feel this way? 1/17

Trans men and non-binary people also have miscarriages. Except when we do, many of us can’t access the care we need without discrimination, fight with our insurance companies to get that care covered, and have to deal with providers who do not understand our literal bodies.

"Things would be different if men had miscarriages because men would not be silent about them in the way women have been. Without the weight of shame and stigma, men would speak up and demand adjustments to societal structures to accommodate their losses." bit.ly/2P0yDti

Get this. Last night I, along with a coalition of Black physicians, met with the President and Senior Leadership of the AMA. Here’s what went down: A thread.

Really excited to be a part of this workshop today! Still time to RSVP if you’re interested in spending some time unpacking gender this afternoon reclaimphiladelphia.org/new-events/202…
