Our Roads Policing Unit (RPU) officers joined partners including National Highways, the DVSA and Cumbria Fire and Rescue in a tyre safety event today (15 Oct) at Tebay Services. As the weather worsens and the nights get darker, take a few minutes to check your tyres today.

Last week we ran a five-day road safety operation using a specially equipped HGV. Op Tramline caught more than a dozen drivers using their mobile phone at the wheel, as well as drivers over the limit, speeding drivers and a disqualified driver. More: orlo.uk/AISGD

On patrol tonight with ACC Blackwell as part of our RPU Launch. Vehicle was spotted in Penrith as the driver was using his mobile phone. The occupants were about to go lamping... until it was established that the vehicle also had no insurance Driver reported & Veh Seized #165

Unbelievable that the driver of this Bin Wagon thought it was acceptable to use his phone, whilst driving round a roundabout in Penrith today. Vehicle was stopped and the driver has received a traffic offence report for the offence. This is simply dangerous. #Fatal4 #2265

The A66 in Eden is one of our high harm collision hotspots. The driver of this pick-up was stopped after using his mobile phone whilst driving. It wasn't just himself he was putting at risk! 🐑 Driver issued with Traffic Offence Report #Fatal4 2414/2265

On patrol in Penrith this morning as part of the RPU Launch. The driver of this vehicle was seen using their mobile phone on Brunswick Road. It transpired that the vehicle also didn't have any insurance. The driver was reported and vehicle seized. #Fatal4 #Sec165 #RPU 2414 / 2265

Today we rolled out their neighbourhood police cycles, as part of Antisocial Behaviour Week. You are likely to see more of your local officers on bikes from now on including PCSOs, CBOs and Specials. The bikes will be deployed from all six of our Neighbourhood Policing areas.
