🇬🇧 London AI builders... assemble! People are building amazing things in London. We had our second AI Builder dinner last night with some great folks. From left to right: Anastasia from @V7Labs @youmsirgi from @plainsupport @azmingo from @Citymapper @guillaume_boni from…
Epic React v2 will have a lovely chat with @jjenzz! AI-assisted Journalism (the good kind), the history of @radix_ui, her progress on tokenami (a type-safe tailwind-like atomic styling library built on css custom properties), and React 19's new <link /> APIs we covered a lot!
I see we're on a spree of interesting questions :) this requires understanding the event-loop inner workings, whenever there is no more code to execute the engine looks in queues for thunks of code to execute
I love how adding the lambda OTel instrumentation from AWS to your functions creates this invisible layer of dependency conflicts that only rears its head after deploying. Your package manager is totally oblivious to it. Fancy.
Once you’ve seen durable execution, it’s hard to unsee it in tons of other problems
Browsers are the new desktop OSs, and good frontend engineers are definitely the new kernel devs
is there a CI vendor that's easy to get set up with like Github Actions but doesn't suck? I'm dying inside every time I have to use their UI and/or wait for runners
Would have been rad if apple was like *BLAM* large language models on top of homomorphic encryption, eat that nerds
best practice for creating developer tooling that won't make you tear your hair out: EVERYTHING must be runnable locally. build scripts, deployment scripts, services themselves. everything. (written while waiting for github actions to allocate a runner)
OTel has been around for quite a while. Does it make sense that I still need to write a util function to catch exceptions and end spans myself...?
Deploying on Lambda helped us be a bit more productive the first few months. But I think I burned all those productivity gains on fighting with AWS SAM, debugging weird build issues and instrumenting those lambdas with the weird OTel setup.
tidbit: for non-modal popovers, tab keypress won't move out of the popover to the next visual element on screen when it's portalled to body, but there's a simple solution 🧵 (1/4)

CGI POV: You come home from school in the 2000s. [🎞️ intenzo]
lol this is ridiculous. Every time I tell myself “you know the DX on GCP is so nice, maybe we should consider using it over AWS” there’s another case like this CTOs beware
We have more details: Google Cloud deleted UniSuper’s subscription (and thus its infrastructure). (!!!) You can tell how big of a mess-up this is that the Google Cloud CEO is making a statement. Big question: how did it take more than a week to restore? unisuper.com.au/contact-us/out…
If IBM decides to merge Terraform and Ansible, would that be Terrible?
took 3 years of attempts but looks like we were finally able to kill the need to use an adapter function and we can just yield* effects! PR: github.com/Effect-TS/effe…
me, few months ago: would be cool to build a product and not think about weird FP crap me, today: hmm maybe I could use recursion schemes to transform this Markdown AST
