Sorry, but “users should be allowed to OPT OUT from having their works incorporated into AI training sets” is ridiculous. Users should be allowed to ‘OPT IN’. That should be the default. Not the other way around. This seriously puts in doubt the sincerity of their intentions.
Having all users "OPT-IN" is a much better user experience than requiring users to "OPT-OUT" of AI crawling. It says you don't value us. Second: AI generated work isn't fanwork, it's theft. It's not written by fans it's generated, and so shouldn't be included in a fan archive.
No, we should be given the option to opt IN. Our work being scraped for unethical training should NEVER be the default. I see the reasoning to allowing generated fics on the site, but there needs to be clear labeling in the archive warnings
