It's almost as if they keep making the same basic mistakes over and over on purpose. I can't tell if it's innumeracy or purposeful attempts to mislead readers. I can say that I no longer trust anything from the HOOVER institute -- It's either propaganda or junk economics.…
This was the most striking part to me: US semiconductor equipment makers seem to be moving some production outside of the US to get around export controls and sell to China. You can see the growing gap between what they export from the US to China vs their total sales to China.
I'm immensely proud to share that my new report on semiconductor equipment export controls is out! It's full of new and previously non-public data that I think gives helpful insight. Please help spread the word! csis.org/analysis/true-…

Shouldn’t these guys (Elon, @ pmarca) be grateful to the government (Biden and Obama admins especially who gave / initiated various grants)? These guys are like little kids throwing temper tantrums and whine when they don’t get everything they want.
Thank you for explaining this so clearly!
THAT'S NOT MMT In today's @Markets newsletter, I wrote a very simple guide to what is and isn't MMT, since lots of people are very confused on the subject and abusing the term. Share with anyone who is confused! bloomberg.com/account/newsle…
A recent estimate by a team of Stanford economists attributes almost a quarter of all US innovation since 1976 to high-skilled, foreign-born individuals. This is despite a difficult immigration system. Let's accelerate innovation!
The Washington Post obtained details about a $45 million plan run by Elon Musk's advisors to target Black, Jewish, Muslim voters and others with "misdirection" ads - often containing falsehoods about her positions washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/…
11/16. It's the Colonel Peron playbook. Trade wars and tariffs. Kick the foreigners out. Take the central bank (Fed) under state control. Promise the working class better jobs and higher wages.
This guy missed the big ones like BP, Shell, TotalEnergis, TechnipFMC, TAQA, Eni, Equinor.
but the reckless nature of the RFK, Gaetz, Gabbard with near ignorant disregard for the Senate is alarming that there is a chance the Trump POTUS is stillborn and DOA unless he does a 180 and shows acceptance of US Constitution Article I
By showing disdain for the US Constitution in Jan 6 and now by disregarding the separation of powers, especially what Thune means, Trump may have already started the longest lame duck POTUS in history.
A new study from the London School of Economics says 50 years of tax cuts in the U.S. — which promised to “trickle down” and eventually boost jobs and income for everyone — have only helped one group: the rich. cbsnews.com/news/tax-cuts-…
🚨‼️MUST WATCH and SHARE before Elon Musk bans it: Since US media won’t tell you, UK activists, Led By Donkeys, dropped this video on how Elon Musk and his use of X helped get Donald Trump elected. @ByDonkeys cc: @BryanDawsonUSA
Everyone who endorses the false claim that the US economy of 2024 is an inflation-wracked hellscape of misery for working people ... is doing advance comms work for the Trump administration when in 90 days time they start taking credit for the best economy since the 1960s.
Excellent article given today’s price action
Red or blue in the White House is not as useful a guide to the energy sector as you might think, says @liamdenning Price and profit are the real signals for change trib.al/TlgVuGm
This applies to East Asia too If Trump wins: - S Korea’s nuclear weapons interest will grow dramatically - Japan will need to seriously expand its long-range strike, and debate its post-American security -And Taiwan? Yikes…
Hate to do this, but European states must act now like there is a very good chance that the US will no longer guarantee their security. @edwardstrngr and I wrote this sketch plan of what needs to be considered in just such a case. foreignaffairs.com/europe/plannin…
