One of the most powerful feelings to emerge from yesterday's NUJ meeting was shame at how our management is acting in trying to give away Britain's oldest Sunday newspaper to a broke startup and pride at our unity in standing up for true Guardian values ✊🏽✊✊🏿

Got my Observer newspaper today. The very best of the Sunday titles. It’s vital that we support the journalists at the Observer and Guardian who are opposed to the Tortoise Media deal - @sarah_donaldson @soniasodha
The @Guardian is keen to thank people like me for supporting it via a subscription. But it doesn't ask people like me what we think of the proposal to lop off a key part of my subscription package. Its appeal will quickly diminish if the Observer goes.

Agreed. The Scott Trust needs to wake up.
I don’t think this deal passes the smell test. Surely the Scott Trust has a duty to protect the culture, ethos and heritage of the 233 year old Observer rather than bundling it hurriedly into a rather weird, loss making media non-entity.
