This is literally vaccines. If anti-vaxxers knew how people got ill before vaccines, they would stitch their mouth shut.

entry level take

Tarantino is extremely overrated and is a great entry level filmmaker but the more films you end up watching, the more his works will likely shrink on you. He struggles very hard with sincerity and most of his films come across as juvenile and non-reflective.

Being an adult whose favorite books/movies/shows are all works geared towards children is embarrassing and you should challenge yourself and engage with more art

That moment the RPG kicks you back into the world after the credits role and all the characters you've grown to know, laughed and cried over default to one sentence replies and you realize you've spent 50 hours hanging out with a bunch of glorified theme park animatronics.

the viewing environment of how you watch a film, from what kind of theater, screen size, what sort of home viewing, all of that, can often have a profound influence on how you engage with that film on an emotional level

Ridley Scott didn’t write Blade Runner but his replicant take indicates he didn’t understand the story he was telling

Genuinely asking has there ever been a case where the author actually flat out didn’t understand the character they were writing?

It's a moral and intellectual imperative that people engage with art that is even remotely intellectually stimulating. Doing nothing but doing the fun/easy stuff only further erodes you and society at large. There is a place for junk food--but not for every meal.

Amid all the perfect, piercing lines in ASTEROID CITY, my head is still spinning from “You’re the wife who played my actress.”

ASTEROID CITY has quickly become one of the best ever movies on how art helps us process and make sense of our lives in the face of life's unknowns and absurdities. I bristle when people say it's one of Anderson's coldest, because for me it's packed with wallops of emotion.

big fan of the part in night of the hunter where it briefly becomes a slapstick comedy

The conspiracy isn’t that it’s the wrong guy, it’s that the government has just been using the NSA to harvest location data and messages of American citizens since Snowden times and they had him illegally so now they’re following a murky, clumsy path of parallel construction.
