Special shoutout to Francis Yuen for his performance on the debate. He might not be as well spoken as the other 3 as he was the only man at the debate without a PHD but he spoke from the heart, brought up issues of concern from the ground and thoroughly held his own. #GE2020

We scale back National Day celebration due to the Covid crisis. But should NDP be conducted with pomp & splendor every year? What about having high-key celebrations once every few years with low-key decentralized events in between? Prudent spending won’t hurt our national pride.

Digitization seems to be a buzz word for SMEs to adapt to the “new normal”. While it is a productivity tool & enabler, the key to business viability is still the market for its products or services. This should be the focus in helping the businesses facing the Covid challenges.

Leaders must be accountable for their actions. Otherwise, they do not have the moral authority to lead. Leaders who are not accountable set a bad example for their followers. For a country, this destroys trust and erodes values like integrity that can seriously weaken a nation.

“Let’s stay united” and “We are in this together” can only be meaningful if there is a political will to listen to and accept differing views and alternative solutions to tackle the current crisis. Time for bold actions not empty exhortations.

The use of fear tactics to stay in power is doing the country a disservice. People are wiser today. Casting fear not to change the status quo in a crisis just means depriving the country of solutions to get out of it. We do better with free contest of ideas and alternative views

The 3Cs of leadership that I find invaluable. To be a Champion for a goal or mission, to act as a Coach to guide & inspire the team to achieve the goal and to play Cheerleader to celebrate success or boost morale when facing failure.
