This week, advocates are joining together in D.C. to celebrate the relentless effort put forth by the Bristol Bay Defense Fund. @EPA can be a hero and help protect #BristolBay for good. It all starts with a Clean Water Act 404(c) veto. End the threat.

Alaskans have lived under the threat of Pebble Mine for decades. They know the devastation this massive open-pit mine would bring to the Bristol Bay watershed. An overwhelming majority of Alaskans want the @EPA to finally do something about it. #VetoPebbleMine

Today, the people of Bristol Bay begin yet another year under the threat of Pebble Mine. But we are now closer than ever to real, long-term protections. This year the @EPA must stop Pebble Mine once and for all.

The Nushagak River represents one of the most important salmon fishery habitats in the world, supporting local communities throughout its 280-mile run. It’s located downstream of the proposed Pebble Mine, which if built, would spread toxic waste throughout the entire watershed.

From mining expert Rich Borden (& @NRDC): "If short and consensus long-term metals prices returned to the values from 2019, [Pebble] would almost certainly have a negative NPV measured in the many hundreds of millions to multiple billions of dollars." nrdc.org/experts/joel-r…

75 million salmon. That’s the Alaska Department of Fish and Game’s forecast for next summer’s Bristol Bay salmon return. If actualized, it will blow this year’s record-breaking 66 million salmon out of the water. Protect the salmon, #VetoPebbleMine.
