The disdain for actual creation and risk (“supposed to be”) while celebrating this singular bird…

"The board’s vote to eliminate these programs comes as the Texas Senate subcommittee on higher education is set to meet Monday to review the role of faculty senates at Texas public universities." texastribune.org/2024/11/07/tex…
Houston says—NO TRUST, NO BOND! HISD propositions A and B failed to pass, making this the first +$1 billion bond to fail in the history of Texas. Today starts a new chapter for organizing against the state takeover and the privatization of our public schools!🌹#SaveHISD
Sometimes my most half-baked assignment ideas yield the best student writing. I had them copy the style of this excellent essay "How To Erase an Arab" by Julie Hakim Azzam (brevitymag.com/nonfiction/how…), barely had time to explain the idea at the end of last class, and... wow.
Oh nooo I just now realized that I'm *never* going to be "in the mood to grade" and so I just have to do it.
Oh, here's another terrible thing about AI: whenever I read a *fantastic* student paper, I am often hesitant to gush over it in the comments in case it was somehow AI-generated. Too embarrassing.
I want to see more gnawing off chunks of meat!!

Yeah like we used to call them “research questions”
"Lecturers would be better off focusing on innovating their teaching. For example by having students submit prompts instead of an essay. That way, they can show that they understand how ChatGPT works." This is so scary. I hope he reconsiders. 😭
Half of my Composition class is also in an ELL/ESOL class. Most are wanting to write in their native language and just use Google Translate. I am struggling. What are some of the most progressive sources and ideas for working with students like these?
