If you had an eating disorder in our study, your algorithm was 146% more likely to send you physical appearance videos, 335% more likely to send you dieting videos, 142% more likely to send you exercise videos, and 4343% more likely to send you toxic eating disorder videos.
Our study on the TikTok algorithm and eating disorders is finally published (big thx 2 @emilya_harris). We scraped the metadata for ~1 million TikTok videos delivered to users w/ eating disorders versus users w/out eating disorders (i.e. healthy controls) sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
✨ Hot off the press ✨ "Measuring eating disorders in Autistic people: A proposal for future research" is now available to read. We certainly hope this catches people's attention and gives food for thought (and sends funding our way hehe) tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

Should we stop using the word #stakeholder in #participatory #engagement research & practice? Our paper critically examines the limitations of "stakeholder" and its ambiguity, normativity, potential for (further) exclusion & marginalisation. Open access: link.springer.com/article/10.100…
