Although #methane is 28x more potent at trapping heat in the atmosphere than CO2, its atmospheric lifetime is much shorter (~12 years) compared to CO2 (up to 100s of years). Global #peatlands have had a global cooling effect of about 0.6°C over the past 10,000 years.
