The stories parents carry from their child’s death shape their grief. We compared parent memories to nurse assessments; revealing striking divergence. The EHR doesn’t tell the whole story, especially at EOL @maq_curley @PamelaSHinds1 @awernerlinPhD #hapc #NurseTwitter #PedsICU

I’ve shared this before, but it’s been a few years, and it’s a new academic medical year, so throwing it out there again as a reminder. We may stop machines or procedures but we should never stop caring. #hapc

1/Please share this thread on behalf of my physician colleague, Eunice Stallman, who is facing the nightmare of her 9mo daughter, Zoey, being diagnosed with brain cancer several weeks ago. @BlueCrossIdaho has added to their anguish by obstructing access to vital treatment.

About 2 weeks left before applications are due to @NationalCSP (July 17)! Physicians and nurses within 5 years of residency/PhD training are eligible. Sites located @DukeU @UCLA @UCSF @UMich @Penn and @Yale Advancing health and healthcare through scholarship and action! (1/3)

Closing my laptop after my final meeting of #POPC research fellowship @DanaFarber @HMSPallCare full of gratitude & wonder. These two years left me with new understandings (both anticipated & unimaginable), friends, & many, many books (both read & unread). Now, onward

Today will be extra fun because the same Court that said the Constitution prohibits private colleges from considering race as a factor in admissions is going to say that private bakeries can consider sexual orientation as a factor in who they make cakes for

My friend who is an RN just told me that her co-worker didn’t get approved time off for her own wedding. Wtf are we doing to our own over here in healthcare.

New pub dropped in Journal of Pediatric Nursing: authors.elsevier.com/a/1hIJU38hTuK0… >40% of 277 bereaved parents felt their child suffered, but feeling prepared for EOL symptoms was associated with lower risk of perceived suffering. @jennifersnaman @danielledeco1 #NurseTwitter #hapc

I feel like there should be an entire course in med school on what nurse’s actually do. What our true job actually entails. And how important we are to entire healthcare system.

Exciting to see this moving forward. Can’t wait to see the results of the maternal vaccine designed to protect newborns and infants. An effective RSV vaccine will seismically change the landscape of #pediatrics and #PedsICU - if we can get the public to accept it of course…

The FDA approves the world's first RSV vaccine. The single-shot vaccine could be available for adults 60 and older as soon as this fall. cnn.it/3ARz0KR

It would be difficult to find literally anything else that Americans agree on this much. It’s time for Congress to get in line with the American people.
