Friday night plights: all three Thurston County teams who played State playoff games lost: In 2A, Tumwater was upset by visiting Sedro-Woolley, 30-22 and Black Hills lost 54-7 to top-seeded Lynden. In 1A, Tenino lost at home to Mt. Baker, 37-26. Yelm is still alive in 3A.

The worst strategy that coaches still routinely employ is holding the ball for the last shot of every period no matter what the score is. So many no shot possessions and wild shots at the buzzer. In the analytics age it seems like this is a play that doesn’t pencil out.
Watching the South Carolina-Maryland game and it looks like, at least in the women’s game, short shorts are back in style. Looks like 1980 out there.
