Heads up before you hit the road going west out of downtown!

A crash on I-235, west of 63rd St, is creating significant delay for westbound traffic. Please stay alert for first responders. University Ave & Grand Ave are nearest westbound alternatives.

An excellent tool for Des Moines residents! Extra tip: Check your recycling schedule, then set up a biweekly reminder on your phone's calendar so you always know when your recycling week is! ♻️

Show Me My House: Type in your address for a quick reference of when your recycling week is, who your elected representatives are, your Neighborhood Based Service Delivery (NBSD) police officer, who your neighborhood inspectors are, and more! showmemyhouse.dsm.city

Des Moines residents enjoy yard waste collection year-round, which means you can keep chipping away at those leaves on your lawn! Just have your yard cart or Compost It! bags at the curb by 7 a.m. on your pick-up day, and we'll be there to collect, 52 weeks a year! 🫡

Friendly reminder: Keep fats, oils & grease (FOG) out of the drain! Even with a disposal, most food items go in the trash. For grease/oil, let it to cool, then pour into a sealable container or use absorbents like coffee grounds or flour to throw away. DSM.city/FOG

We're very proud to partner with our friends at Trees Forever, and extremely thankful for the Growing Futures team who help grow our urban forest through park & neighborhood plantings. They also help us hand out free Tiny Trees every spring so residents can plant trees at home!

🌧️ Remember, roads can get slick during the earliest stages of rain! Drive with care.

Soggy conditions unfold across the state today. Highest rainfall amounts of 0.25" to 0.75+" will be over the western half of the state with lighter amounts east. #IAwx
