The NSW govt has said this historic pay rise for police will boost recruitment and stymie staff shortages. So why not nurses and midwives too when they are leaving the state in droves? 🤔
What is it with politicians & health bureaucrats telling sick people to go to places unable to provide the level of care needed? It does a lot of harm & consumes resources for no benefit. People’s illnesses and the care needed doesn’t change by being told to see a chemist
Very unhelpful for @JaclynSymes to simply tell sick people to go to the Chemist or GP. This crisis did not happen overnight - it’s a decade long problem that will not be fixed with a wasteful revamp. We need a new hospital on a new site. @MaryAnneThomas @RyanPark_Keira
$3.25 billion would buy at least three major greenfield hospitals for regional Victoria. The inbalance of investment in the regions is staggering. Why isn’t metro media picking this up - people needing dialysis are choosing to die rather than travel from Albury Wodonga!
If this is true, it is an existential threat to AWH and will impact on the health of our community, our ability to retain staff and slow economic development in our region. We deserve much better @MaryAnneThomas @RyanPark_Keira bordermail.com.au/story/8466674/…
So reminiscent of the circumstances in Tweed. Master Planning followed by yrs of toing and froing over brownfield/greenfield, only to settle on greenfield. Not sure that the infrastructure in Albury would b different to Tweed. 14 yrs on, Tweed Valley Hospital to open in New Year!
Why did the Vic Govt refuse to release the 2021 original, evidence-based master plan for Albury Wodonga Hospital? Storyline’s packed with political chicanery! #wedeservebetter #pausetheplan @JacintaAllanMP @MaryAnneThomas @billtilleymla @Gaellebroad @JaclynSymes @WendyLovellMP
They are not Medicare clinics, they get extra funding on top of Medicare rebates!
Hobart’s first Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is officially open. In their first two weeks, they've seen 400 patients and performed 82 X-rays. Hobart’s second Urgent Care Clinic will open soon.
Dan Andrews is being asked about payroll tax for GPs and is deflecting to talk about priority care centres (which are subsidised at over a million dollars a year) It is unfair to heavily subsidise some and heavily tax others - patients will suffer @RACGPPresident @amavictoria 1/2
@acemonline System pressures and unrealistic KPIs drive unnecessary tests and over-investigation…which adds to crowding in ED’s, medical error, over-diagnosis and unrealistic patient expectations… #ViciousSpiral..#ChangeNeeded
Tough but fair decision. Bravo. Our health service/region crying out for more funding for a new hospital, one of many possible ways to spend the $7billion instead of games. @DanielAndrewsMP @MaryAnneThomas #CommonwealthGames
Bit of a long one this morning. You might have heard the news this morning that Victoria will no longer be hosting the 2026 Commonwealth Games. And I wanted to tell you about the decision.
The report going before Monday's Wodonga Council meeting states "without the master plan or a business case that provides the rationale to proceed on a brownfield site, questions remain on whether this is the best result for the Albury-Wodonga region". bordermail.com.au/story/8088816/…
#PeterCharlesworth about to set out on a new world record attempt on a stand-up paddle board, with clear messages about heart health awareness AND a new single-site Border hospital. Go well and safely Peter. Support Peter at Sup4Health2023.org #nomoreborderbandaids
It’s not normal and it’s not safe … whole of healthcare systems need to be reimagined and resourced to address ED overcrowding
Over-crowding kills patients & results in stress & burnout for Emergency Medicine staff who strive every day to provide the best possible standard of care. Join our Global Campaign Against ED Over-Crowding Position statement + campaign toolkit + posters bit.ly/3W50mWA
I honestly don't care which side of Victorian politics works with NSW and the Feds to deliver a new hospital on a new site for Albury Wodonga. If @DanielAndrewsMP delivers what our community needs I will lick his boots and dance!
It’s no surprise that 99% rank health the most important issue. With small, outdated, inadequate hospitals the liveability, growth & opportunity for Albury Wodonga is compromised. @DanielAndrewsMP @Dom_Perrottet #wedeservebetter #nomoreborderbandaids
PS @KosSamaras Can you please do 3690 also :) Not in same ball park I know, but yikes have we seen some growth, and did some one say new hospital...
The great vision for Albury Wodonga has been abandoned - and our health services too.
Thanks @KosSamaras Health sure is a big issue. The air ambulance flies over our place to get to Melb. Gee it makes a lot of trips. Many of whom could stay in Albury/Wodonga with a suitable hospital. Any many of which are prob babies whose mums have to stay behind in Wodonga.
Will do. Up there, massive issues with health assets
