Heads up: It doesn’t have to be “designed to be racist” to be racist. Lots of systems are designed with no malice, but have grossly disproportionate and entirely predictable outcomes. This is the definition of systemic racism.
The algorithm is based on targeting parts of the image with the greatest brightness and colour density. If you’re insinuating it’s designed to be racist, you’re wrong.
Today, I had a chance to share the joy of working in R with data volunteers at @COVID19Tracking A question came up that I’d love help answering from #rstats community: “What resources would you suggest for someone new to R + the #tidyverse?” Slides: bit.ly/2RE4U70

An amazing project. Adds an “L” to IPUMS to give “Linked, Integrated, Public Use” individual data. IPUMs made it easy to work with multiple, cross-sectional datasets. Now the Census Linking Project (with access to a Complete Count Census repository) makes it longitudinal.
We produced a few videos to introduce the Census Linking Project censuslinkingproject.org Watch here 👇
