made myself a software mouse jiggler using voice control 👀 video: enabling voice control on macos and playing an audio track on repeat to drive the cursor.
new @figma beta feature just dropped: accessible prototyping for screen reader / assistive tech. 🤯 video: navigating a Figma prototype using VoiceOver, showing a visual dropdown that receives cursor focus and clicking.
idea: twitter should show alt text instead of image placeholders on low/no bandwidth connections.
ah, this is... pretty exciting... I made a Figma plugin that screenshots a live url, and overlays all the accessibility data on top as component instances. so, like, alt text, labels, headings, etc. etc. sort of a visual design accessibility audit mashup! 💁♂️
Playing with screen reader friendly data visualizations, starting with a map of the US from @observablehq @d3js_org examples. Video shows a color coded map with a related legend, where the colors describe unemployment rate. Screen reader can interact with and read the content!
