I wrote about the rapid expansion of #consciousness taking place right now, and whether #church might be a more appropriate context for #psychedelics — especially given the medicalization meltdown. rollingstone.com/culture/cultur…

In an act of sicking cowardice, 52 House Democrats (roughly 25% of the caucus) voiced support for this measure. They did so because they want to give Trump the power to crack down on pro-Palestine groups. (7/8)

I’m sorry Kroger is doing what now

Families are struggling to put food on the table. I sent a letter to @Kroger about their decision to roll out surge pricing using facial recognition technology. Facial recognition technology is often discriminatory and shouldn't be used in grocery stores to price gouge residents.

This is the true AI doomerism. Not the stuff about a rogue AI enslaving humanity, but rather using AI as an ideological tool to justify the capitalist nihilism of maximum extraction by claiming its the only solution for planetary collapse.

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt says energy demand for AI is infinite and we are never going to meet our climate goals anyway, so we may as well bet on building AI to solve the problem

“Lobbyists working for major North American oil and gas companies were key architects of anti-protest laws that increase penalties and could lead to non-violent environmental and climate activists being imprisoned up to 10 years.” But yall still mad about soup 🤮…

Microsoft built data centers near the drought stricken city of Colon—Mexico gave it subsidies & just one facility was allocated 25 million liters of groundwater a year. That's ~25% of what the general public gets. My colleague @DianaBaptistaR visited:context.news/ai/video/forge…

NEW: Billionaire Elon Musk has created a PAC collecting voter data from those living in key states through an online "register to vote" form that does not directly register people to vote. All of this in an effort to help Donald Trump become president. cnb.cx/3A9hEMv

Years ago, Peter Thiel invested in a political startup named JD Vance. A Trump victory would put Vance in the White House. @GregTSargent and I discuss why this extremist tech authoritarian is even more dangerous than Trump. Listen👂 @newrepublic ⬇️ newrepublic.com/article/184168…

These solar panels needed a lot of materials & fossil fuels to manufacture but were obliterated by hail. It's a harbinger of how a large-scale energy transition to so-called renewables will fare in our increasingly turbocharged, broken climate system. 1/

Can you re explain this thread like I’m five cause it sounds important

The greatest gift of AI might be that we can start to see this emptiness and ultimate dead-end clearly. And, in contrast, that we all might also start to see the magic and power of human natural intelligence and how under-appreciated and engaged it is right now.

Unbelievable denialism.

“We must get it out of our heads that this is a doomed time, that we are waiting for the end, and the rest of it … Things are grim enough without these shivery games … We love apocalypses too much.” theguardian.com/books/2024/mar…
