Fact of the day: The Avro Canada CF-100 Canuck was used extensively for photo recon during the Vietnam war. (Mis)taken for a Martin/General Dynamics RB-57 Canberra.

Stopped by the Spadina House museum today for the salmon lanterns, though ahead of the official opening. The construction method is quite similar to that used in fabric covered aircraft. m.facebook.com/story.php?stor…

Like the "Beluga", the "Frog" is a modified A380 designed to carry oversized balloons. Photographed from a Canberra.

Looks like a 1950's Avro Canada Orenda jet engine doing post-retirement duties as dilithium mining equipment in #StrangeNewWorlds season 3 episode 1. IRL used in the CF-100 Canuck and Canadair built F-86's.

Updated my Twitter handle, the prior COBOL one was early Covid vintage, so it's joining my highly effective cloth mask in the dustbin of history.

Putting planes, here the PBY-5A Canso, back into the @CWHM hangar after getting the Lancaster out for post-maintenance runup. Just a couple of small leaks to contend with.

Toronto's Union Station, construction delayed by WWI and finally opened in 1927, once contained the largest room in the British Empire. Oh, it's mid-bottom left...

Been playing with the "rising front" feature on the Pixel photo editor. Need a bit more practice, but otherwise quite useful.

Reading "Bader: The Man and his Men" and found this passage... A modern plane like the RV-7, albeit with a constant speed prop, can get twice the speed at 60% power as the Avro 504 WWI biplane, for the same horsepower engine.
