It's a very common norm, I'm not saying you did something unusual, I'm just trying to point out an inconvenient feature of the usual behavior around this sort of thing.

tl;dr of the project: i'm making an online annotated edition of John Gatto's "The Underground History of American Education" with all the sources embedded alongside the text (hyperlink all history!) + writing additional essays like these indiegogo link โ†’ igg.me/at/openhistoryโ€ฆ

I think I may quit Twitter for a while. It was good while it lasted, but if there are banning offenses, and publishing my home address together with death threats is not one of them, then Iโ€™ve gotta see the whole environment as hostile. @elonmusk

This is a through line of a LOT of discourse about the tech industry, which built an incredibly concentrated well of competence and was genuinely surprised when it woke up one day perceived by power as an acute threat.

Here's your mindbender for the day. @RobertKennedyJr distrusts big pharma. He also has a voice disorder called spasmodic dysphonia. I once had the same disorder. My voice problem was cured by surgery. I got the surgery after interviewing others who had been cured the same way.โ€ฆ

Great example of moral insight here: Rotblat leaving the Manhattan project from @michael_nielsen "Moral choices sometimes matter not only for their immediate impact, but because they are seeds for downstream changes in behavior that cannot initially be anticipated."

I was asked to make some remarks about connections between AI and the Manhattan Project, at a screening of "Oppenheimer": michaelnotebook.com/oppenheimer/inโ€ฆ
