If "Cyberspace is the 'place' where a telephone conversation appears to occur..." (Bruce Sterling), then is the "real world" the place you are when the Internet goes down?

Discoverability at its best.

I feel there’s a latent yet pervasive opportunity for an app to help manage team topology, accountability, visibility, charter, mission, and progress. We’re all just duct-taping things together these days.

This is the kind of thing technology is about and ever should be about.

I thought I would share how I, as someone who is visually impaired use my iPhone.☺️

Risk accrues. Reducing risk also accrues. Great demonstration in regards to wearing masks. Reduction of % of transmission small in any one encounter but that small reduction has a huge impact over time. twitter.com/NPR/status/128…

Researchers analyzed the data from every study on the protective effect of masks. Their bottom-line estimate: If 95% of people wear cloth masks, transmission drops by at least 30%. With this example, here's what happens over seven 5-day cycles 👇 trib.al/Rezxwml

1/ Please read this thread to the end. Do you recognise this man? I am sure that you have heard of Alexander Graham Bell who invented the telephone. I know you have heard of Thomas Edison who invented the lightbulb. But without this gentleman, neither would have existed.

Wear a mask. That is, unless you want to be intubated by a gynecology intern July 1st who did her last semester of med school via Zoom.

Highly recommend John Oliver’s “Police: Last Week Tonight” episode breaking down how police authority deliberately derives from white supremacy, and more... youtu.be/Wf4cea5oObY

Started today at Recycle Track Systems (@RTSGreen). Looking forward to working on sustainability and recycling opportunities with new tech products. They have a smart, multidisciplinary team helping the Earth in material ways. (Pun intended.)

Today was my last day at @pivotal @vmware I'm so grateful for my time there and all the patient support from fellow Pivots. Moving quickly on to new things on Tuesday!

Our decision not to pursue the Quayside project was a very difficult one. We are grateful to the countless Torontonians who contributed to the effort, and for the support we received from community groups, civic leaders, & local residents. Thank you bit.ly/2L4Ntcz (1/3)

"Remember, these models are always wrong.” -@drsanjaygupta This kind of statement reinforces our misconception of what models are: *decision tools* that give our *best estimates* of future given certain assumptions/inputs— helping us improve decision making under uncertainty.

My lockdown cooking-from-home discovery: smoke detectors are vegetarian. 🍔

To save on fan life, I moved the @foldingathome client to a droplet on @digitalocean, and it got assigned this wacky "envelope protein, which is an ion channel important for viral function" from project 16803. Neat!
