Handing over the moisture meters, Hon. @FredBwino noted that if actors focus more on quality and value addition, Uganda has the potential to increase its coffee earnings. He welcomed the move by UCDA as one that will improve the quality & earnings for farmers.

Of the 56 meters procured, 38 are from UCDA while 18 were acquired under @EUinUG Cocoa & Coffee Devt Project. The meters will facilitate accurate moisture determination, ensuring compliance with regulations - less than 14% for FAQ coffee & a maximum of 12.5% for export grades.

Welcome move from UCDA as we embark in the proposed EUDR era. Moisture meters have long been least accessed coffee kits by farmers & aggregators to measure the moisture content of our coffee. This is a quality assurance and safeguarding measure on aflatoxins in our coffee exports
