I have a Free Palestine pin on my work backpack. It’s my one way of expressing solidarity at work while still being pretty much cowardly/silent so I can pay bills. Yesterday, for the first time, someone at work noticed it. And said “I like that.” I just stared at him, waiting…

The number ONE thing you can do in Ramadan is take time to see whether or not if it was really your NAFS all this time and not the Shaytan. The Shaytan is weak but we do tend to offset our issues onto him. The NAFS is a unique creature. Let me explain: 🧵

The bit about reading faster than people can talk hits home for me. Listening to video (or audiobooks or podcasts) is like processing information in slow motion. Also, we should talk about how people tend to trust video more, and how that’s messing with critical thinking.

The sexual violence Israeli soldiers are currently committing against Palestinian women is not new. My late Grandpa built an underground hole in my village to hide the women every time they raided the village bc they’d often rape the women & make the men watch. It still exists.

One of the most important lessons I learned in adulthood is that once someone decides to dislike you, for whatever reason, everything you do after that point - no matter now inoccuous - will be filtered through the lens of reinforcing why they don’t like you.

I’m here at the White House. Would it make a difference? I don’t know but I’m trying my best even if my work was always behind the cameras. It’s not about me anymore, it’s about stopping this genocide by whatever it costs. Don’t forget you all to keep calling for a ceasefire…

whats happening in Palestine is the prototype. they are testing the full extent of their evil there because if it can be normalised & okay there it will be fit to spread everywhere else. there is not enough panic, even in the capitalist sense, of what is about to happen to us all

YES. All this.

There's nothing sadder than seeing universities cut their arts and humanities departments. Literature, philosophy, poetry, these are things that nourish and sustain the human spirit. They are necessary for us to flourish.

effects of dehydration are so extreme that even reading about it & imagining it happen to the small defenceless bodies of toddlers is blood curdling, so what horror must it be to witness or experience? every hall of power should be made to face the consequences of their barbarity

Stop whitewashing history. It really didn't start on October 7th.

Forced starvation in Gaza is an act of genocide.

I once happened upon my toddler niece studiously picking flowers and muttering to herself "I'm picking buttercups. I'm doing my best." So now when I'm overwhelmed I think of her resigned and self-soothing little mantra. Are we not all just picking buttercups and doing our best?

This was not a piece of s***. It worked when the electricity was out. It provided a Lifeline to the police or the fire department and in a pinch, you could beat someone to death with the receiver. It's a Swiss Army phone.

Today in 1977, you made a phone call on this piece of shit.

The feeling of hunger and thirst this Ramadan will be faint. Gazans are starving to death, while we can simply wait for sunset to break our fast. Oh Allah, forgive our incapacity, grant sustenance to our starving ones, and victory to our oppressed ones. Ameen

Exactly four months ago, children in Gaza held a press conference in english to beg the world to stop the bombardment. Almost 15,000 children have been killed since then. No one listened.

I adore people who have a niche special interest. Whether it’s ancient Latin or Bohemian folktales or the mystical meaning of the Tarot, I’ll be happy to let you lecture me about it for hours. It doesn’t have to be *my* special interest for me to admire your passion & enthusiasm.
