I don't think anyone can learn "real" economics without reading the entire history of economic thought. You just can't learn it reading modern day textbooks driven by "New Keynesian" mathematical economics. To all students, go through the entire history of economics and money too

Seniors, women, LGBTQ+++++ etc etc

Out. To. Lunch. Always picking winners and losers, this guy loves to divide and categorize Canadians. #callanelection

Is temporary tax relief real relief? 💰 Trudeau’s latest trick: hand out *your money* and call it generosity $250 & a temporary GST break won’t fix years of skyrocketing taxes & inflation Canadians need real, permanent relief. Axe the tax & make life affordable again. #cdnpoli

“Equality before the law and material equality are not only different but are in conflict with each other; we can achieve either one or the other, but not both at the same time. The equality before the law which freedom requires leads to material inequality.” — Friedrich Hayek

Even a 25bps cut is a foolish thing to do with demand stimulus and extra borrowing they ll be doing on top of higher infl

Economists say the Canada Govt mini-stimulus package likely puts to rest any chance Bank of Canada delivers another half-point cut to its policy rate on Dec. 11. BMO sharply upgrades its 1H 2025 🇨🇦 outlook due to C$6.3B stimulus. On WSJ wires:

A 2-month "Tax cut" gimmick and a $250 cheque unless you make over $150k This is not an affordability measure. It is ridiculous nonsense.

Socialism at its peak in Canada?? @aye_kaash @RishiJoeSanu

City of Toronto now requires landlords doing a renovation to provide tenants with temporary housing or cover the costs. Serious question, why would anyone want to be a landlord in Toronto?

Modest proposal: If you wish to reduce the trade deficit, tax Americans, and send the money to foreigners. They buy American goods. No more trade deficit. (Target spenders not savers.) Ramp up foreign aid. If this is a bad idea, then consider why you don't like trade deficits.

First you control rent then you control moving out of tenants..

📢 BIG NEWS! We're taking action to protect renters from bad-faith landlords. It’s great to see this move forward. It’s going to make a big difference in the lives of so many.

Same repeated theory applied! Everything is related to "underconsumption"

4/9 absorbing global excess savings. Because in a globalized world, shifts in one economy must be matched by the opposite shifts among its trade partners, one consequence is that more open economies automatically import industrial policy from more interventionist economies.
