Every semester, at least a few colleagues express anxiety about student participation. I always suggest reframing the issue to honor multiple forms of engagement: how can we invite students to engage in ways that are accessible to them? Here are some examples from my courses.

We are proud to announce our 2021-22 graduate conference, held in collaboration with @_filmstudies and the York University Graduate Film Student Association! The theme is “Altered States” and we are pleased to welcome @kemi_aa as our keynote speaker.
"Defunding the police is not simply about withdrawing funding for law enforcement and doing nothing else," says Angela Davis, who says Joe Biden has accepted this "superficial understanding" of the demand. Defunding police must be paired with reinvestment in community, she says.
