one unorthodox and unaccredited thing I made up that fundamentally increased my self-trust: I took six months where I stopped talking to friends about ‘my problems’ or ‘pending decisions’ and started recording voice memos to myself. turns out, I mostly needed a place to…

Interesting… especially with more cities trying to deploy more quick-build projects…

Waymo clearly cannot read "Muni vehicles only," nor does it understand red paint, or white paint that reads "MUNI ONLY." These things largely operate on maps, and as soon as the map is out of date, they are unable to adjust. Needed remote ops. Autonomous remains an aspiration.

If you’re a smart person, one day if you pay close attention you’ll meet someone who is soooo much slower at thinking than you, but has superior metacognitive skills, a mastery of system 2 thinking, and it will completely change how you think about intelligence

Walz has shored up the urban planner vote

As a former geography teacher and self-proclaimed GIS nerd, I’m thrilled to proclaim today as Geographic Information Systems Day. Here in Minnesota, we are using GIS to make state government more effective - whether we’re replacing lead pipes or expanding homeownership.

AND he’s a GIS nerd advocating for geographic literacy to advance equity and environmental justice? ABSOLUTELY.

Did you know? Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, newly-announced running mate of @VP Harris, was the keynote speaker at our @EsriUC just last month??? Catch his super inspiring talk here: mediaspace.esri.com/media/t/1_d2sq… Cc @leahstokes

Girly pop is a universal language

Obsessed with the fact that, because Rebeca Andrade doesn’t speak English and Simone Biles doesn’t speak Portuguese, the vast majority of their interactions consists of giggling, enthusiastic nodding and variations of this:

Over the holiday weekend I met a woman who works for forest service in Nevada City, California. We got to chatting about fire risk, as one does. She noted that her county -- like every other California county -- is still approving new homes in areas ...
