Publication day has come! Very pleased to see this out. It’s a brilliant, optimistic account of feminist progress - telling the story of a country and of the lives of Bangladeshi women over half a century.

Happy publication day to Renegotiating Patriarchy: Gender, Agency and the Bangladesh Paradox by @N_Kabeer! ✨ This book surveys Bangladesh's complex history, placing women’s agency in the processes of change at the heart of the story. Out now ⏬ doi.org/10.31389/lsepr… @LSE_ID

Parties of the left or centre left have won more than 500 seats in this election. No previous parliament has come close to that in the democratic era.

It's worth breaking down why leaving the #ECHR would not 'stop the boats'. This is leaving to one side the *much greater* consequences for the UK if it did so, entirely unrelated to migration and asylum.

Perhaps we should ask *why* so many families are "hard-pressed", rather than making this an excuse for inaction on a crisis that will itself hit the poor hardest It's not climate action that needs to go. It's rampant inequality, that leaves so many people on the edge of disaster

Rishi Sunak says the UK's current climate targets would 'impose unacceptable costs on hard-pressed British families' as he reveals plans to water down policies
