It’s not that standards have changed. Women always felt creeped out by predatory, lewd men. It’s just that now women feel able to challenge. Older, middle class women more able to challenge than freelance junior women. It’s our duty💪💪💪 bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

As things stand, #AssistedDying will come in to force by the end of 2027. Many questions remain unanswered. Read my analysis of what it could look like in practice: thetimes.com/article/d1b9e7…

This debate is about to get much more ugly & damaging Those baying for an even harsher system should look back at how ineffective previous 'crackdowns' have been at actually moving people into work We need a more compassionate & comprehensive rethink thetimes.com/article/38c7b6…

In August a Liverpool library was set on fire in a fake-news fuelled riot, it's amazing how quickly & positively they've rebuilt. All library services can show their support on 12 Dec #ShareTheLight #SpellowLibrary #LibrariesChangeLives cultureliverpool.co.uk/light-up-your-…

We will only know the true death toll in Gaza when the endless attacks & deliberate starvation of the population ends & we see who survived. I think most in the world will be shocked by the extraordinarily death rate of civilians including children by bullet, disease & hunger.

My direct, heartfelt appeal in today’s @guardian to @wesstreeting & @Keir_Starmer in the light of yesterday's vote on AD. If you sincerely care about dying people, surely you will now publicly & urgently commit to proper funding for our threadbare palliative care?

This week I was writing about my grandmother who signed for my grandfather to have an operation to save his life. She cared for him for many years and despite not having much of a life herself because of the time she was commited to caring the love she had for him shone through…

Heidi Alexander’s appointment as transport secretary means the cabinet is now 100% state-educated for the first time in history - great stat from @georgeeaton

There was a chance to make a program not framing 'benefits as burden, but about the 2 million waiting for mental health support, the 750,000 on gynaecology wait lists, and the 500,000 waiting for social care assessments or services. This is the real crisis breaking Britain.

7% of the UK’s working age population is claiming long term sickness benefits - costing the taxpayer £48 billion - and the numbers are quickly rising. For @C4Dispatches, @FraserNelson investigates why this is one of the greatest challenges the new Labour government faces.

Just imagine if all those MPs squeezed into the House of Commons to force the government to fix social care...

Louise Haigh's resignation sets a ridiculously low bar for cabinet service. We're now saying there can be no rehabilitation for anyone in public life who has committed the most minor of offences.

Marsha Reposted

The misogyny in UK politics - a woman who made an error and Magistrates issued a 'discharge' - lowest punishment - has to resign - a man served time for assaulting girlfriend - no response from Party and Leader blocks questions and runs from interview theguardian.com/politics/2024/…

Marsha Reposted

Is there more to come out? Unless there is, resignation of @LouHaigh is very odd & disappointing. A minor, spent, conviction a decade ago, apparently declared, should not bar someone from office. I’m sure Prisons Minister Lord Timpson, who employs ex-offenders, agrees.
