This should be our Dunblane moment. Only with social media not guns. @elonmusk is a feckless billionaire whose algorithms pose an imminent threat to life. He won’t act. So it’s critical that we now do. theguardian.com/media/article/…
I don’t know Margaret but she just stopped me in the street and said “I’ve seen what’s going on and it’s not right. You should feel safe in this country and I want you to know I’m not racist.” You might think how can I possibly make a difference? She did in her own little way.
We’re delighted to be celebrating the Wainwright Awards again. It’s a vital recognition of the importance of nature and conservation writing, and we’re proud that our bookshop champions the longlisted - and many more - titles. 🌳 #dorset #wainwrights

Nigel farage wants you to think that Britain has an immigration problem. It doesn't. Britain had a problem with millionaires hoarding wealth, egged on by politicians and the press. Britain has a problem with racism. Britain has a @Nigel_Farage problem. RT if you agree.
We join fellow organisations in a public statement deploring the racism and violence we have witnessed in our city. We will be reaching out to those we work with who may be directly impacted. There is no place for hate in Bristol. Team Bristol Beacon x
Britain does not have an immigration problem. Britain has a racism problem. RT if you agree.
I’m a doctor originally from Afghanistan who is now proudly serving people of all backgrounds in NHS. Despite the fear of violence against my faith & background, I won't be intimated. UK is my home & I will continue to help anyone who needs it. We shouldn't give in to racism.
- Just one dragonfly can consume over one hundred mosquitos in a day - Dragonflies can fly backwards - They have nearly 360-degree vision - Their wings inhibit bacterial growth due to their natural structures - They're actually beautiful This is not stained glass, it's a wing.
It is clear that @elonmusk needs to stay out of British politics. RT if you agree.
When I take my seat up to six times a day in fringe venues over the coming days, I will remind myself that every show is a miracle. But theatre should not have to rely on miracles; we need investment. thestage.co.uk/opinion/edinbu…
Someone stole Roger's favourite post....
Before we started long recovery grazing we were all about adapting our edges to to be the best habitats possible Riparian strips Trees and scrub cages Hedgerows everywhere And field divisions that were terraced ponds and wet woodland strips Now really rocking with birdsong
Retweet when you see it! (Extra points if you know what 'it' is!)
This message is stupid She says the system of farming and land clearance costs are bigger than transport of finished foodstuffs Yeh - that’s why you need to buy local and shape the food systems you eat from to make them sustainable We have zero control of distant farmlands
Buying local food to reduce your impact on the environment is “a really big myth”, says @_HannahRitchie The Environmental data scientist tells @krishgm why sustainable food choices are complicated and buying local isn’t always the climate-friendly way. youtu.be/8XxkCRhcvdo?si…
The young, forceful campaign-group @RiverActionUK are taking the fight for England's rivers to the courts again.✊ This time it's a judicial review of the legal loophole that's allowing poultry waste from 25m chickens to poison the River Wye to near-death. theguardian.com/environment/20…
One book sold today and that was to an author!! Grim day. Never in four years have we had a day like that. Oh well let’s see what tomorrow brings.
Oh my goodness it’s 2pm and no one I mean no one has been into the bookshop today we’ve not sold a single book, this is a first in 4 years! Not after sympathy just telling you how it is because these kind of trading conditions have massive knock on’s for the entire industry.
Here's a little Wren in a puddle. Do you like him? 😁🐦
Looking forward to giving evidence to the Science, Technology and Innovation Select Committee (@SciTechgovuk) about the importance of fungi and the ways that the UK government can support 1) fungal conservation, 2) fungal research, and 3) fungal education. committees.parliament.uk/committee/135/…
A massive congratulations to Nima Sarikhani who has won our Wildlife Photographer of the Year People’s Choice Award! 👏 Nima’s dreamy image captures the moment a polar bear drifts off to sleep on a bed made of ice against stunning pink and blue sky. ❄️
Wow, it’s been a rather epic amount of work for everyone involved… but we got our CS Higher Tier agreement today Lots more wood pasture, loads of grassland restoration, some making space for water, more hedges and scrub, many thousands more trees - all round a productive farm
