The Chicago Cubs are calling up top first base prospect Matt Mervis, sources tell ESPN. He's expected to join the team tomorrow as it returns home to start a series against Miami. Mervis, 25, was hitting .286/.402/.560 with six HR in 24 games at Triple-A Iowa. Big power prospect.

The #Cubs arguably already have 5 top-100 prospects (Davis, PCA, Hernandez, Alcantara, Kilian) *and* they’re about to trade Contreras, Robertson, Givens, + *and* they have a top-7 pick in a draft with 7 clear(ish) top prospects *and* they have prob a top-10 pick next year.
I'm most excited for PCA, but also Owen Caissie. But also Kevin Alcantara. But also James Triantos. But also Brennen Davis. But also Christian Hernandez. Oh, you can't forget about Caleb Kilian and DJ Herz.
