P.s. This is the same devout lady who singlehandedly put an end to spontaneous intercessions at Mass when she looked right at the pastor and prayed "For more--and better--vocations to the priesthood, we pray to the Lord."

I assume my idea isn’t a good idea because I haven’t heard anyone else suggest it. Then again, in case I’m wrong … I propose that Canada hire as many into the army as possible and give all military a raise so that we meet our 2% goal, then let the military patrol our borders.

This is horribly wrong. Who is doing this and what is the international community doing about it?

The art piece is site specific, it’s located on the cut and oriented as a beacon towards the city centre. It’s says “here we are” How do you relocate that?

Looking forward to the outcome of this motion by Clr. @MikeKlassen This iconic sign symbolizes the dynamic & diverse East Vancouver community and I'm confident it will become even more of an icon when its relocated to a new site even more deserving of this public art. #vanpoli

We had public hearings and BC rejected nuclear decades ago. Nuclear waste lasts 250,000 years, breakdowns are common and a danger in times of war and the coming climate chaos.

But if they don't know it's a builder necessarily or don't know what is planned, what will they sell for? House behind me sold for about $2 m in 2021, they're doing duplex plus laneway. House nearby, same condition, approx, sold last year close to $4 m for tower assembly

If the city allowed small apartments on a single site, wouldn't have to assemble. Could just buy at close to actual sale price. But when require assembly, they have to pay much higher than assess value -- owners know they have leverage. That's why houses going for 2x in BP area.

So I'm hearing that Burnaby planners are suggesting $100k in development fees for EACH additional unit in a multiplex. So, a 4plex would be 300k in fees PLUS building permit fees (60k?) for $360k in fees? Completely insane. And Burnaby is not alone.

60 million gone on just the drawings for this stack of big boxes. More than enough for 300 housing units for the homeless.

News broke this week that plans for the new Vancouver Art Gallery have gone off the rails. As costs soared and the completion date got pushed back, the chosen Swiss architects have been given the boot. 🖼 @pmcondon2 and Scot Hein write. thetyee.ca/Culture/2024/1…

The bus (which runs in traffic) horrible replacement for an interurban train that runs on it's own right of way. We had these all over the country but killed them for the cult of the car.

Nashville was once home to its own electrified interurban, the Franklin Interurban Railway, which ran between connecting Franklin and Nashville. The 20-mile line opened in 1908, and operated until 1942 when the system was converted to busses. american-rails.com/tnseintestreet…

Peter Cardew had an impressive proposal for expanding the existing Vancouver Art Gallery under the plaza. Was the stubborn desire for an “iconic” new building possibly “Edifice Complex” on the part of the VAG director and BOD?

This a periodic reminder to Christians that Christ was a Jew, his Mom and Dad were Jews, and if you are antisemitic, it's a sin against God.
