Ted Sarandos: “Folks grew up thinking, ‘I want to make movies on a gigantic screen and have strangers watch them [and to have them] play in the theater for two months and people cry and sold-out shows … It’s an outdated concept.” variety.com/2025/film/news…
Its not. Come to @GAPTheatre35 or any of the @exhumedfilms show and see people laugh and cheer and have a great fucking time not sitting in front of their TV
Saw Midnight Run in a theater last week, and it totally revived my love and desire (tamped down by age, access, technology, and Covid) to see movies IN a theater, WITH an audience. Sinners tomorrow.
He’s not wrong. It’s not where we want to be but he’s correct. Massive massive changes afoot and it’s never going back.
It's not an outdated concept. It's a concept that Sarandos, & movie studios, are purposely trying to kill & they call it an outdated concept to rationalize what they're doing. If movies didn't hit streaming for 6 months at least, it wouldn't be so "outdated."
Ted Sarandos watching every Netflix customer rushing to the movies to watch Sinners in IMAX.
What does he think about this?
#AMC $AMC - #SinnersMovie will be number 1 movie this weekend too with anywhere between $60 - $80 million. All together expecting $130 mil for box office this weekend. I will share other Sinners theaters later too. 🔥🔥🔥 @AMCTheatres @CEOAdam @SinnersMovie
