OSCE/ODIHR and EU preliminary statement on #Uzbekistan confirm serious irregularities during presidential election: ballot stuffing, proxy voting as well as restrictions on media and civic space.

Prosecutor demands 11 year jail sentence for blogger and activist #OtabekSattoriy based on clearly fabricated charges. This is a cruel and menacing way of silencing those who seek to expose corruption in #Uzbekistan. Shame. @gulnozas @OSCE_RFoM @CPJ_Eurasia @ProtectHRD_EU

On behalf of the family of blogger Otabek Sattoriy, we would like to extend an invitation to @UsAmbUzbekistan to meet with them. Otabek has been in detention since January on very spurious charges after covering corruption issues. Please DM us for further details. Thank you.

Started my visit to Surxondaryo, as is often the case, by meeting with Hokim Tora Bobolov. Bobolov was born and raised in the Termez region, and clearly knows the whole viloyat inside and out! Discussed economic and educational cooperation + the region’s tourism potential.

I recognise all the effort of @GOVuz to eradicate forced labour but without empowering civil society and systemic change in registration & regulation of NGOs it is not possible to put an end to this. @cottoncampaign roadmap of reforms for #Uzbekistan. bit.ly/3bh2IdO
