I genuinely get such a wrenching feeling when I look at this painting. It’s like a new detail jumps out at me every time. The neatness, the cloth on the seat. Most of all his expression! How do you manage to capture something like that? Ineffable. Shocker it’s not more known.

Hello — a fundraiser/book drive has been started today to help replace the books & repair shelving destroyed during last night’s attack on the Spellow Lane library in Liverpool. Details here in case you’d like to give/share on: gofund.me/d024718f
Liverpool's Spellow Lane library torched last night. What could be more 'patriotic' than destroying a centre which serves the local community?
A week on, this is how the community of Southport are remembering the victims of an horrific attack - with love.

We’re praying for peace this weekend, and praying especially for British Muslims, asylum seekers, and all who have been put in fear by the violent disorder we have been witnessing. We give thanks for people of good will working for peace and repairing the damage done by rioters.
Oooh! Another sublimely beautiful photograph by @CarlBovisNature This account brings so much joy 😊 every day that I can not thank Carl enough.
