“Ask someone how they’re going to stay alive the next time we have conditions again like Black Saturday? It’s like climate change. It’s too hard. People just shut off.” Scientists and bushfire survivors are honing their message for the next firestorm: satpa.pe/uIipE0q

Today, AFAC released the Bushfire Seasonal Outlook for Spring. Given the current wet conditions and an uncertain rainfall forecast, NSW is expected to have generally normal fire potential across the season. More details at: afac.com.au/docs/default-s…

Our research at Western Sydney University has been investigating PFAS (mostly as PFOS) that is accumulating in many platypus across NSW. One was from Wingecarribee River at Berrima. That is a major river in the Warragamba drinking water catchment. abc.net.au/news/2024-08-2…

15 Australian species have been added to the threatened list today. 5 species uplisted as they get closer to extinction. This is a national shame & requires drastic action. Only 110 out of more than 1,900 species threatened with extinction will be given priority protection.

We are deeply concerned about reports in today's media about a threat to fire-bomb a national parks office over feral horse control in Kosciuszko. Escalating threats of violence, vandalism and acts of intimidation must be taken seriously by NSW police.

If you live in a bush fire risk area, do you know your neighbours? When neighbours look out for each other and talk about fire safety, everyone's safer. Because that's when good neighbours become good friends. #neighbours #nswrfs

Save your criticisms of the postponement of the trial of Brittany Higgins' alleged rapist. The judge was applying a basic legal principle that exists to protect everyone. The media needed to just stfu about the case as the trial approached, and it didn't. Point your finger there.
