2022 has been a year where #ClimateAction has become increasingly integrated into daily life for me. A short 🧵 of a few highlights:
i don’t know who needs to hear this but please can we stop talking as if covid is in the past and climate change is in the future. people are dying from both now so we should start acting like it asap before we all die tbh
At COP27 so-called leaders lied again about their commitments to ensure warming did not exceed 1.5°C. Just 1 month on, the remaining carbon budget has shrunk another 1%. The attached table & plots illustrates the gap between their lies & their commitments. climateuncensored.com/how-alive-is-1…
Just submitted my PhD thesis 🥳: "The power of leading by example with high-impact low-carbon behaviour: emulation, trust, credibility, justice" Thanks to everyone who has provided inspiration, insight, opinions, and energy - not least on this site 🙏
The way governments are trying to crack down hard on climate activists is basically a form of collective suicide. It’s incredibly stupid. Now is the time to rebel.
If you need a home off of Twitter, we've built Project Mushroom explicitly to provide a safe place with paid moderators, in a community built on justice, anti-racism and anti-harassment. 🍄 This link gets you in immediately: projectmushroom.social/invite/2kLxn3sy newsletters.projectmushroom.xyz/about/
Har den här snygga nålen på min jacka. FN:s 17 hållbarhetsmål. Såg nu att den är ett hemligt tecken att hålla utkik efter enligt anhängare av konspirationsteorin The Great Reset. 😁
Passenger Trains in the U.S. vs Europe....Sigh for those of us that have been trying to limit flying
At the American Geophysical Union meeting in Chicago today Scientist Rebellion activists took action to raise the importance of scientists sounding the alarm on the climate crisis. The message is simple - scientists must step out of the labs and take action onto the streets.
Climate strike week 226. #FridaysForFuture #ClimateStrike #PeopleNotProfit
Ok, "I'll stay on twitter and see how it goes" people: can't more please now come over to mastodon (please follow me there at @W_Lucht@mstdn.social). This was not a business acquisition.
On train two of four to get to the Swiss Alps, passing through beautiful snowy French countryside; also on my second wonderfully dodgy Christmas film of the day. Honestly, the flight-free life is The One
It’s incredibly difficult being a climate scientist in this society, at an emotional level. We can see the future, it is terrifying, and we are being ignored
Interviewed by @TheOilMachine team on how Putin's war has highlighted the repeated incompetence & corruption endemic in political failure to address climate change. On the oil companies' net zero claims: "greenwashing is a [too] polite term, it's lying" youtube.com/watch?v=L0xhIP…
as musk is now full fascist & climate twitter is silenced i can tweet knowing nobody will see this and be totally honest: it’s likely we are all going to die from climate collapse. but cus i love all life on Earth so much, i’ll never stop trying to save this miracle we call home
Keine Ahnung, wie wissenschaftlich haltbar das ist (anybody?), aber klingt bestechend logisch. ⬇️
This explains so much about both covid and climate, and the "everything's fine" crowd.. jessicawildfire.substack.com/p/its-not-cool…
Police raids at climate activist's homes. Preventive imprisonments for road blocking. Common outrage at being disrupted. These aggressive reactions to climate protests speak volumes. We're sleepwalking into a hothouse Anthropocene and do not want to be woken up.
