2023 will mark 10 years of my advocating hard for unconditional basic income. At this point, one of the things that annoys me most is the new claim from conspiracy-fueled people that the rich and powerful fully support UBI and want to use it to make a subservient population. 🧵

I paid a $900 fee for my mom’s local paper to publish her obituary and a photo taken by my dad. The NY Post reprinted both and placed ads on the page, which means I have effectively (unwillingly) paid $900 for the Post to make money off my mom’s obituary and a personal photo.
All I can say is, as someone 38+ weeks pregnant with a very wanted baby, I do not wish this on anyone who doesn’t really, really want it. And I’ve had a relatively healthy, uncomplicated pregnancy with a presumably healthy baby.
Where are all the politicians who were claiming that the American people needed $2000/month until the pandemic ends? The pandemic hasn’t ended. Looks very unlikely that it will be over in 2022 given news of new variants. Do you support bringing back the national push for #UBI?
