The fact that EasyChair offline review forms are in XML format is a crime against academia. Who the hell wants to sit there filling out an XML file?!
My @nokia @NokiaMobile G60 5G phone has been bricked by their May 31st security update. Impossible to fix because the bootloader is locked. This anti-repair policy is deeply anti-consumer and should not be legal. EU law must mandate right to repair in software and hardware.
They were not kidding when they said doing a PhD would be a series of ups and downs.
You cannot convince me violin plots are not just Rorschach tests for scientists. Here's a wine glass, a grizzly bear pelt, a martini glass, ovaries, a beer glass, two vuvuzelas, and a fountain pen nib.
Absolutely mind-blowing that we didn't have algorithms before Al Gore invented them in 1977
Please put Stellan Skarsgård and Pedro Pascal in all television series produced from this point forward. Thank you!
If your Linux application puts its transient junk all over my home directory instead of in XDG_CACHE_HOME then I still appreciate your contribution to the ecosystem but come on.
What even is the point of GitHub's vigilant mode if GitHub does not provide any mechanisms to prevent people from squashing or rebasing my commits? I understand anyone can do this on the CLI, but surely a "prevent others from squashing / rebasing my commits" option makes sense.
There is about to be an absolutely massive hole in the market for user-friendly ways of cryptographically signing digital messages in the face of what will be a crisis of large language model-generated phishing e-mails.
Our #ICPE2023 paper has received the ACM "Artifacts Evaluated: Reusable" badge, the highest artifact badge awarded by the conference. These stickers have me just as excited as when I used to get stickers on my homework in primary school. 🙂
Not sure why New York enforces that people take photos of these speed limit signs but here we are.
The best part of Twitter is that you can tweet about your decaying mental health and some Web3.0 grifter will come and tell you that they're building a service where you can put your thought spirals on a public blockchain without any explanation of why you would want to.
I should never be a corporate manager because I would take my team out to a butter churning class and call it a cream building activity as a stupid gag.
In a few years the Zoomers will be going "these gen α kids lowkey making me feel old 💀" and I will be sat here grinning smugly while trying desperately to work down my arthritis medicine.
If websites respect my browser's dark mode settings, there should also be a browser-wide (or system-wide) do-not-disturb setting for web applications to respect.
The only conspiracy I truly believe in is that nobody actually saw that dress as white and gold and that they were just pretending in order to fuck with everyone else.
"A mud wizard becomes the symbol of the global climate movement" was not on my bingo card for 2023 but I am here for it.
I've been getting a massive amount of anti-vaccine and pro-republican party content on my timeline under the guise of "You might like". Wonder if this is an algorithmic error or a concerted effort to serve Twitter users right-wing content.
Why the hell do towels say you can iron them? Who even begins to consider the Sisyphean task of ironing their towels?? I can barely be arsed to iron my shirts, leave me alone.
Bought myself a USB-C dock, and the fact that we can put 1080p 60Hz video, gigabit Ethernet, audio, a bunch of USB peripherals, and up to 100 watts of power over a single tiny USB cable is utterly insane to me.
