I’m always fascinated by these real football men who work in the shadows. No limelight, no real fame, just a wonderful passion for the game. Each one deserves so much respect. RIP John Griffin
Very saddened to hear of the passing of this great man, John Griffin yesterday. Highly respected in the football community, a lover of the beautiful game, responsible for bringing a lot of talented players to #cpfc. A wonderful person.
We’re sad to hear of the passing of John Griffin, who worked as club scout for the #Chairboys under both Peter Taylor and Gary Waddock. Our condolences are with his family.
So sad to hear we have lost John Griffin. John was integral to the recruitment of the great 90’s Palace team. He helped me so much. We wouldn’t be where we are without him. He was a truly lovely man, a great football man and he will be hugely missed. #cpfc
John Griffin played a key role at Crystal Palace over the years football.london/crystal-palace…

youtu.be/WBL1FYzwgaM Condolences to his friends/family. John was interviewed at 19:45 mins in the 1999 season, for 2/3 minutes discussing scouting. Hopefully it's of value to @kristinagriffn8
Good man your Grandad Kristina. Loved his family but also football and cricket. Was Big part of what was achieved @CPFC in 80s and 90s very respected and professional but @FulhamFC also close to his heart 💓
I can only concur with Alan and Steve. From my time at Palace during that period he was a huge influence on our success. John always had time to chat & share his immense football knowledge but above all he was a true gentleman. Condolences to you & family.
Thank you for your lovely message!

Lost a dear friend John Griffin yesterday who was a great scout and wonderful man. Griff Discovered the likes of Ian Wright, Stan Collimore and Alan Pardew who has just called him “a legend”. RIP Griff.

Just heard about Griff, Al. Kept in touch with him until a few years back and upset like many of us that he's gone. The loveliest of men and the kindest of men. Hope you're well, stay safe. Rest in peace, Griff, you'll be missed.
Just heard John Griffin died 81. All my time at Palace Brentford and Fulham. Old school scouting. RIPGriff

Very sad news. John was a massive part of the success @BrentfordFC have had over the years. What John didn’t know about football wasn’t worth knowing. #ripJohn
He was loved Sophie, sad day for all those that knew him, a gentleman. I know he worked for other football clubs but for me, Palace was his home. 🔴🔵
